Sorcerer and Sword
Sorcerer is one of my favorite games, It has taught me a lot about GMing and running games. The Sorcerer and Sword supplement takes this game in the fantasy realm of Sword and Sorcery. It contains the best bibliography of Sword and Sorcery books. The rules a light, but add an amazing depth to conflicts. The Game is very character focused, their kickers, destinies, and back stories drive the game. The GMs job is to create meaningful obstacles with what’s provided forcing the character to make choices.
This game makes it clear that it should be the players story, and the GM is there to facilitate. It also not focused on simulation or realism it about the choices the character has to make. This game is preachy, and tries to bring you into Ron Edward’s way of thinking about Role-playing games.
Play this game when you have a small number of players, and they are interested in an intense emotional story focused on them.
